Day 82; July 18 - Grand View to Valdez

We left the Grand View Campground around 9:37am.  The temperature was 48.  It was cloudy.  Clouds were so low that you couldn't even tell we were in the mountains.

We followed a lot of the Pipeline from Glennallen to Valdez.  It was good to see something that I had only heard about until now.
As we got closer to Valdez, we ran across this rest area with a memorial to Billy Mitchell.  He was a soldier that was sent to Alaska to establish the telegraph....I think.
This must have been his cabin, it was located in the park.
Glacier is about to run right into the highway.  I think was are going to drive up to see it closer.
Welcome to Valdez!  The city has a campground right by the welcoming sign.  We chose to stay in one a few miles back in the country.  I'm so excited!  We have real cable TV with over 72 channels.  Up until now, we were only allowed around 9 channels and they were so fuzzy you couldn't see 2/3 of them.  Our Direct TV doesn't work up here.
Didn't think we would find any storage mills here.  We are by the ocean again.
The light colored-humps in the center of the picture are part of the oil refinery.  I overhead a man talking about it up the road that said it had high security and no one was allowed close to it.
I sewed a little today.  Talked to Daddy and Ruthie.  It started raining just as we reached the campground.  I heard it raining pretty hard over night and there are big puddles surrounding us this morning.

All is well in Alaska and the Trio is doing fine!
