Day 33; May 30 - Memorial Day

Sorry, no pictures!  I didn't get out of the camper until last pm.  Went to Wal-Mart (you already have a picture of it!) and got me a hanger to hang my necklaces.  The old decoration broke under all the weight.  We had our lunch around 2:00pm EST and then took a little walk to DQ later on for dinner.  We are well.  Got a text from Donna that she had taken Daddy to the hospital during the night and that he had pneumonia and would be there for a few days.  He sure is getting frail.  Donna, give him a hug from me.

Day 31; May 29 - Park Failure

Image
Today was an interesting day.  I got up with the sun and checked the road conditions for the east entrance to Yellowstone park.  It was open until 10:00am.  We quickly got dressed and headed out.  Drove the one hour drive to be turned away.  It was to be closed the entire day.  We came back to the camper, I played a little, and then decided I'm better have a nap.  I think we all did.  Got up and watched baseball. Gary choose the "Irma" to eat our weekend meal out.  We had the prime rib buffet.  Can you tell he is just as happy as a little pig!

Day 31; May 28 - South Fork Road

Image
I got up expecting a slow day; but Gary decided to go for a short drive.  We went north and viewed the Newton Lakes.  Pretty.  A lot of locals were on the road ready to fish.  Must have know where a good place to hang their hooks.  We came home and had a lunch of chips and dip.  He wanted to go for a walk.  I went along.  Of course, we had to pass the DQ and I had enough room left for a Pecan Cluster Blizzard.  As we were walking back a camper was leaving with one of their doors open; therefore, Mr. Nice Guy stopped them and got to talking.  He recommended that we go down South Fork Road.  It is known for its wild life.  So I gobbled my ice cream and we hit the roads again.  This is Castle Rock.  Interesting rock stuck in the middle of no where.  We saw deer everywhere, moose grazing with cows, elk think this is their land.  Mountain Sheep (see their curly horns).  The other kind of deer!  (Forked?) with some sheep.  Crossed a bridge in the bottom.  Beautiful!

Day 30; May 27 - Shop and Go

Image
We hung out at the camper in the morning.  I did two loads of laundry and replaced Gary's John Deere cap. At 1:00pm we headed down to Webster Chevrolet for the appointment.  It wasn't too bad.  Some sensor in the transmission had gone bad.  It told it what gear it was suppose to be driving.  It took over two hours that about cost me a new truck. If anyone is looking for a good used truck, here it is!  This is a 2008 with only 17,000 miles.  It was owned by a handicapped veteran that trades every 2-3 years.  He has the bed removed and a special box put on the back for his special needs.  When he trades, they put the bed back on and the special box on his new truck.  Gary was sure tempted to upgrade! Because Gary saved me so much money, I decided I'd better go shopping on main street.  I met this nice man that designed silver jewelry.  I learned a lot! Storm coming out of the mountains again.  Better head to Wal-Marts and settle in for a little country reunion and baseball

Day 29; May 26 - Wild Mustang Hunt

Image
What a day!  Our day started out with us getting into the truck!  Prissy acting like an idiot and then the first stop sign Gary noticed that his light wasn't  working on the dash indicating which gear he had selected.  So, he took "big mouth" and me back to the camper and he went to the Chevrolet dealer.  Wasn't gone long--came back to tell us he an appointment on Friday at 1:00pm and it should not hurt it to drive.  So we loaded up again except we left "big mouth" at home and headed up north on the Wyoming/Montana border. We found two old wooden elevators in Powell, WY.  Ate lunch at McDonalds.  Tried to find a part for the closet that my "big butt" broke.  It is springtime in the Rockies.  What a beautiful day.  I ended up taking 40 pictures.  Enjoy this flowering tree below!  We stopped at the canyon lookout on the way through the Wild Mustang park.  It was amazing.  Different colored rock layers.  Funny old man in the ugly hat.  I tried to e

Day 28; May 25 - Big Decision Day

Image
When I got ready to get up, the travel agent "Big Gary" told me he had decided to stay in Cody WY for a few more days.  The weather was not cooperating and he needed to do some mechanical work.  He had failed to tell me that the brakes on the camper had not been working correctly.  MEN!  This is fine with me; I don't think we will find a better campground.  We look out the front door into the mountains and deer graze in the area.  There are several vacant cabins if some of my friends/family would lie to fly up.  We will be here until next Wednesday. So, what do I need to do?  Miss Prissy was getting pretty grimy.  I got on the internet and found three places that groom dogs.  Called two and they were booked up until June/July.  The third one was the animal hospital.  I thought they should tell me that in person.  So off we went!  They were booked up too; but she bet Miss Julie would work us into her schedule.  She loved poodles.  Found Miss Julie about one block from t

Day 27; May 24 - More Museum Pics

Image
Got up at my regular early time.  Can't believe I wake so early!  I stayed up and watched the Cardinals get beat in the 10th inning.  Wasn't a good day for my baseball teams, they both lost.  Gary went to the museum again.  I stayed home and vacuumed and did my nails.  It rained the entire day. (Cassie, my toes still look great.  The lady said her manicures last a month.  I didn't believe her.  She must have been right!)  My finger nails seem to be getting better.  I use the oil and the Envy now. Gary came home.  We had salmon patties and cheesy potatoes for dinner.  We also finished off the strawberry shortcake.  I finally got smart and got out my electric skillet to fry meats.  It frees up the small stove for my vegetables.  I called Daddy and Aunt Dorothy.  They seem to be doing OK.  Aunt Dorothy might have sounded a little discouraged.  She never complains though.

Day 26; May 23 - Cody Museum

Image
T 1st Cody Museum   Gary has been spending all his time at the Cody Museum.  He has been to three buildings out of the five.  They had the guns of some of his favorite stars.  (Looks like Gunsmoke and "Hoss" Cartright) Irma Hotel; Cody WY This is the Hotel Irma and Restaurant in downtown Cody.  It was beautiful.  Food was good!  I always wonder how they manage to build such detailed building in the "old" days, and now we just put up Morten building churches, etc.  Something is wrong with this picture of our society.  The old churches had such beauty and art work.  If you get a chance to go to Cody, I would recommend this Restaurant.  It was a Five Start +.

Day 24 and 25; May 21 and 22 - Buffalo Dam

Image
We have been slowing down a bit.  Saturday, Gary got doughnuts for breakfast, Calvin and Chaney called.   I washed the sheets and sewed. We had Wal-Mart pizza for supper.  Just a lazy day!  Much to Gary's dismay we watched baseball too.  I really enjoy it!  He gets bored and goes for walks! Sunday, we got up slowly (that happens more often as we get older!) and drove up to the Buffalo Dam. Came back to the camper and watched the Royals vs Cardinals.  I sewed and ripped some more! Gary decided he needed to try a restaurant called "Grannys" and I didn't argue.  One more meal I didn't have to cook!  It was the prettiest day we have had since we left on this trip.  Sunny and warm!  More rain coming. I've been watching Weather Channel.  The tornado that hit Joplin Missouri was horrid!
