December 22 2014 - Cardinal Stadium and Frank Lloyd Wright Buildings

Image
Switch out sightseeing day to Monday because of Christmas travel. First stop at McDonalds for coffee and sandwich. McDonalds  Headed west.  Deb's Trailblazer and Jerry's farm truck in the right lane?  How odd? View of Cardinal Stadium from 1 Cardinal Drive. Passed a cotton feed that is ready for harvesting. Downtown on the way to Biltmore Hotel. Entry gate. Pretty impressive! Had its own golf course. Ran into the Wrigley Mansion.  Sitting up on the hill in the trees.  It was closed on Monday. Headquarters for Best Western was on the Biltmore grounds. Closer view to the Wrigley Mansion.  Entry gate. Oranges are about ready for picking.  One orchard was ready for picking. Deb and Jerry, know these people? Deb, thought of you today!  If I was rich I would buy you this green car to drive to work.  You would think of me every single day. Gary wanted me to take a picture of some of the high end houses

We went to the movies today.  We saw "Wild".  I enjoyed it.  It was more a girl flick so Gary was iffy. When we got home I plopped into my chair and Gary came to get me because the local campers where having a Christmas parade.  No more comments, just enjoy.

12-15-14 Driving Around Town, Around and Around

Boy did I mess up today.  Forgot my camera and had to take pictures with my phone.  Gary wanted to drive around town.  202 to 101 to 10 to ?????? So here we go! As always we got hungry.  We stop at Fry's Grocery store to check out the candy supply.  I've been looking for bulk candy like I was used to finding.  I did find it.  Not like home.  But in candy bins with shovels to serve yourself.  I wasn't smart enough to put the label on my bag with the stock number, so Gary had to go finish my job. On the way into the store, I found this beautiful purple for Donna.  Just for you sis. Then we drove and drove and ended up at the horse racing.  It was fun.  We stayed for two.  We put $2.00 on the last race (minimum).  #7 was our horse.  He jumped straight out of the shut and was a horse length ahead until the home stretch and bless his old tired heart, he came in last.  Gary chuckled all the way to the truck. Next our goal for the day was the Phoenix

December 9 2014 - Up to Prescott AZ

I was excited about this trip.  I even set the alarm clock.  I got up but Gary did not.  We stopped at McDonalds and Gary had coupons for 1 free with 1 McCafe.  So I drank both.  He also couponed us sandwiches.  Thrifty in his old age. We had seen this gas station earlier while out and about.  So we got diesel for $3.26.  $80 for a fillup.  Yeah.   Old mill elevator for the old man. Big rock for the old girl. We took the scenic route to Prescott.  It was about 40 miles of stop lights.  We went through where the Arizona college was located.  Did not see the stadium. Another little suburb, Surprise.  We also went through Sun City East and West. It was a beautiful day.  Finally about 12 miles from Prescott we saw undeveloped land. We toured the town of Wickens???? and went into the historic district. My two McCafe's gave me a stomach ache and we had to make a sudden stop at Wal-Mart band-aides  and a break.  Thank goodness Gary decided to come in
