January 30, 2012--Rain, Rain

Image
Horse and God-Made "Tank" (I learned this from Roberta--Texans call a pond a "tank".) Don't understand.....don't see any metal sides? It started raining in the afternoon and it rained and it rained.  There is rain in the forecast about everyday this week except Wednesday.  We plan to take a road trip tomorrow into the hill country and follow the scenic drive in our best drives in the US by Readers Digest.  Not much news.  I saw on Facebook that Onaga was experiencing 70 degree weather.  Guess we should have stayed at home.

Sunday--January 29, 2012--Breakfast at Seguin

Image
Because I was out of milk and didn't want to eat my cereal dry, we decided to run into town and have breakfast at IHOP.  I had the 2x2x2.....2 eggs, 2 bacon, and 2 pancakes.  I gave my bacon to Gary because it was a flavor I didn't care for and I had plenty to eat anyway. Horse Pasture in our back yard. Picture was taken from the back window of trailer.  After breakfast we went to Home Depot for Gary to drool over the air compressor and guns that he has added to his want list.  He thought we needed exercise so up one isle and down another we went. After he was wore out and had seen everything in the store, we drove down some different streets in Seguin.  We found the theater where some music will be Saturday night.  It would have been perfect if Amber Digsby was coming. Texas Theater.....we hope to attend Saturday night. Another Old Elevator Artwork above this building. They must have been caught or ran out of paint. We went to Wal-Mart and bought more

Friday--Didn't do a whole lot.  In the afternoon Gary wanted to go back north and try to pick up another pair of pliers for his tires....ha!  We drove around Granger Lake.  It was pretty dirty from all the rain that we received the past few days. Granger Lake  We stopped at TSC and he got two new shirts and a ramp for his "hog".  I think he wishes he had taken more time and hitched it to the trailer.  Men!  They just won't listen. Saturday--Forty years ago today we were headed to Jefferson City Missouri in the old 58 Ford because the new Mustang would not start.  The roads were icy and we had a baby boy that was ready to make his entrance into the world.  I know he sure filled a void in my life.  The gap from my mother's passing had not healed yet; but those little brown eyes sure helped. We packed up and left Taylor around 10:00am.  We drove south to Seguin to find a campground.  We had tried several and to our dismay they were filled or booked.  Ga

I guess the driver decided we had done enough sitting and eating.  The sun was shining and the weather was great so we headed south to visit Austin.   First view of their Capitol Building Home of one of the Founders Don't make building like this anymore! There was more interesting house on the same block! Just wanted to know what they paid millions to stick on their dome? Closer view....he MADE me walk blocks! This is what we had headed downtown to see.  I guess the Governor's Mansion is being remodeled from the inside out. They were putting up a new privacy fence.  It took up the entire block. The was the first home of the founders.  Now it is called "The Honeymoon House". Not to clear, but Austin seems to have a habit of putting food trailers on entire blocks.  People seemed to choose them for their lunch. We went back to the trailer for our afternoon naps.  Then to Wal-Mart to get spaghetti sauce.  After I had made e

We got up late after storms in the area all night. (Taylor got 2 1/2 inches)   Missed breakfast so we had lunch.  I had a banana and a piece of pie.  Can't totally go healthy.  We watched TV and I finished reading one of my book, "Blood Ties".  It was a good mystery.  For dinner we finished the roast beef and had it on mashed potatoes with homemade biscuits  Watched MU lose.  They gave it away--although Oklahoma State looked like the No. 2 team.  We then watched the K-State game.  Shot a few bubbles and called it a night. No pictures were taken because I didn't leave the trailer.

"Travelling Trio" Baby, GrMa Bear, and Papa Bear Our good friend Robert wondered why the blog was named the Travelling Trio when there were only two bears on the opening.  So, I have been working for two days off and on cutting and pasting and erasing.  This is the blending of two pictures.  Thanks Cindy for your advice on how to do this.  I love learning new things.  Now I have another problem.  It will not let me replace the beginning picture.  The program is telling me that I'm running out of room.  So, my blog days may be coming to an end. It is after 10:00am and we just got up.  It rained and rained and blew and blew last night.   The ship rocked and rolled and we were under a tornado watch and we had no idea where to go if one came....next time I will take my big mouth out and find the answer to these things. Moral of this story:  Texas if you needed rain, why don't you just give us a call.  Have trailer will travel!  Better than a rain dance.

Monday--Gary said we did nothing.  I might just have to agree.  He went to Chevy dealer and got his spare tire lift fixed and ordered his new tire.  I stayed home and cooked a roast.  We went to Round Rock and mailed some letters. Tuesday--Spent the morning the Chevy dealers. Covert Chevrolet; Hutto TX We left around 8:30am and got there before 9:00am.  We walked around the car lots of the Chevy and Ford.  Went back into the waiting room after 30 minutes.  We waited and I looked at all the magazines (20+).  Pretty soon someone came to tell Gary that the wrong tire had been sent and they had sent their man to Austin to pick up another.  We waited some more and read more magazines and watched TV.  Pretty soon I decided we should walk around some more.  After walking around one building, we saw the truck pull into the repair shop and a tire being unloaded so we went back into the waiting room.  We waited and waited.  Pretty soon close to 12:00noon someone came to tell Gary that t

We woke up to a dreary foggy day.  It was chilly.  We actually took a complete "off" day. Camp Site 9 at the Four Winds RV Park; Taylor, TX This is how I would like my new cabin to look like! (Maybe not so tall.) Laundry Building Multi-Purpose Building Work on your Motor While the Laundry is Spinning I guess this is for us old ladies. When we got to go, we got to go! After lunch, the sun came out with the wind and it got down right warm.  Had to start taking off the layers.  I went to the laundry building and did two loads of laundry. We had another round of Mexican Chili,  It was better than yesterday. Sunday night brings popcorn and Pepsi. Football; no Fox channel here so we missed the second game. Like it here.  Might stay another week if the electric bill is not too high. Rain in the forecast for the next two days.  Maybe even two inches.  Good thing we are on a hill. I want to post a picture of my Onaga friends. Carol, Susan, Sissy, and

Saturday--January 21, 2012

We got up and found the Chevy dealer in the first town to the west.  Of course the tire did not have hazard warranty.  We need to check to see if we purchased the extended warranty.  I'm thinking we did.  Gary has to take the truck back Monday morning to have the spare tire holder worked fixed.  It had some problem that the assembly was not connected correctly and caused a lot of trouble releasing the tire.  They will order the new matching tire from there,  Hopefully the rim was not damaged.  It took a lot of abuse because the tire went down quickly and shredded leaving the rim on the ground with the weight of the camper. Next, we headed to Wal-Mart.  I spotted a nail saloon and went to get my nails updated.  Gary went into the doughnut shop next door and stuffed his face while he was waiting on me. Back to watch some good basketball.  Rob called to congratulate me on the win.  I told him a worked hard on it.  Calvin and Chaney called to thank me for their gifts.  Calvin wante

Thursday--We got up and went into Fort Worth to track down my HotSpot.  Guess what, FedEx had put it back on the delivery truck.  The nice lady (finally found one that was willing to help) called the truck and we met him behind Target in Weatherford.  We then went for breakfast and rode with them while they delivered Meals on Wheels.  Back to town to pick up coolers that are delivered in the country once a week.  We delivered in the area of Horseshoe Bend.  Then it is time to eat again.  They choose a nice little restaurant downtown.  They had really good food.  The noon special was only $5.99 and that included your drink.  They also had coconut cream pie.  Robert and I could not pass this opportunity. Friday--Moving Day....sorry to say goodbye to our friends.  Roberta went into town for an appointment and we packed up and waited for her return.  Sad goodbyes were said and we headed south towards San Antonia.  First stop was at the Circle T Ranch outside of Hamilton.  They had room f

Home at Cedar Hill Wednesday, Roberta and I went to town.  Gary and Robert stayed at home a cooked.  Robert made his famous brisket and baked beans.....it was yummy.  I made bread pudding and deviled eggs.  (Gary made the comment on the way down to Taylor that they were not my best effort--but he WAS NOT complaining.  Hum.  I will have to think about that!)  We waited until after 7pm and checked the FedEx site and learned that the package was not delivered because of a conflict in the address!)
