Day 74; July 10 - Cooper Landing to Denali Park
We got up and had sausage and pancakes for breakfast. Packed everything up for our drive north. We three gals walked up three flights of steps to check out the lodge that was located above our RV Park. We were impressed. On the way up, I stopped and took pictures of the huskies and their puppies.
This is a picture of the lodge. It was the place where they bused the Princess Cruise passengers to board on land. Elegant. The ladies bought themselves new jackets in the gift shop.
View from the deck. You can see the river below.
On the way back to Anchorage there were cars pulled over on both sides of the road watching these brave little sheep climb down the mountain.
We are getting closer to the National Park. It was a long drive. We decided not to stop half way but go ahead and go to the campground and stay for four nights so we didn't have to pack and unpack. Everyone was tired. Our fried chicken dinner turned into bologna/salomi/cheese sandwiches.
As we approached Denali, we spotted this huge lodge sitting on the ledge of a mountain. Poor girls have to sleep on their beds on wheels. Driver is pooped and gone to bed, we are watching "Hall Pass". We made reservations for the Riverboat Discovery (a paddle boat on the river--hopefully it will be a smooth ride) and a tour bus into the Denali National Park. We are excited. Tomorrow we are taking a day off to do laundry, read a little book, and just calm down.....might even get around to frying the chicken.
So today's tally of animals is 1 dead porcupine and 4-5 mountain sheep.
