Day 52; June 18 - Hanging Around Whitehorse

I got up and did two loads of laundry.  I was beginning to look like I had been on the road several days, so we loaded up and headed into town to find a beauty salon.  On our search we took a picture of one of the old original hotels.

I spent several hours and a few dollars at the saloon.  I had a new experience.  I asked to have a wax on my extra facial hair and was escorted into a back room where an Indian lady (lady from India) in her native dress proceeded to tread the hair off my face.  At first I thought I would like it; but pretty soon my toes started to curl in anticipation of the pain.  My hair turned out good.  I little lighter; but a really good hair cut.
After my beauty treatment, we went back to the camper and I gave Miss Prissy a bath.  Now all of the driver's women look good.  After dinner, we took a little ride into the country.  On the way south, a bear (brown) jumped out of the roads and ran across the road.  Took us by surprise so we didn't get a picture.   We turned around at the ski lodge.  Would you believe that on the way back, the same bear was waiting for us?

Gary found this interesting.  When the ground is too rocky to get their utility poles deep enough, they add metal tubing and rock them in.
I took the time to smell the roses today.
American State Flower.  The bears like to eat them.
Yukon River.
 Wild Roses.
 Pretty Little Yellow Flower.

This hotel was about a block long.  Well kept and inviting.  The girls at the salon said that business had really been slow this year.
Kustom Kuts - Might have to catch on my way back!
They thought I had an accent.......
Whitehorse had a lot of beautiful murals painted on their alley buildings.
