December 4 2013 - Vicksburg MS to Denopolis AL

Hurrah!  Gary got the toilet fixed.  You don't realize how many times mother nature calls and when until you have to walk to the shower house!  Gary said it reminded him of the old days when you had to go the the out house all the time!  After we went to Jackson Monday morning to get the part and Gary took about 10 minutes to install it, we went to the Ameristar for a little bit, Wal-Mart for longer, and back home.

Tuesday morning I got up bright and early and we headed to Alabama.  We stopped in Meridian MS and had lunch at Olive Garden.  Then eastward we headed.  I was really excited when Sirius radio announced that XM58 Prime Country was switching over to country Christmas music at noon.  Let it play!

 Finally after several says in Mississippi, we reached the Alabama border. I get to add another sticker to my travel map.


We are staying at the Foscue Creek Park.  It is a national park, so we get to pay $11 per night.  The park had several campers and they came steadily in all afternoon.  We found out that this town is one of the top 5 places to be in the US to celebrate Christmas.  If you have a chance google Denopolis Alabama.  These activities have been shown by HGTV.  A cold front is moving in and the driver wants to head further east to the coast to warmer weather.  It is easier to just let him plan the trips and where we go and stop.  Before each state we google the top tourist attractions, get out the book of Corp of Engineer Parks, and try to coordinate each to the other.

Today, for some dumb reason I'm up and drinking coffee before 8am.  This is the view from our site.  It is a little gloomy and rain is in the forecast for several days.

Days 93 and 94; July 29 & 30 -- Canada to USA

Whee.....what a long three days.....we put a lot of miles on the vehicles and our bodies.  When I last blogged we were at Dave's RV Park in Vanderhoof, BC.  Gary said that this was one of the best kept campgrounds that we had visited.  The bathrooms were spotless and the grounds and flowers matched.  We aimed to go around 200 miles and stop.....somehow that didn't fall into place.  We stopped for lunch at a rest area.  I took this pictures overlooking the valley below from the camper door.  You can see the screen door marks on the picture.  All along this road, we passed original log houses and out buildings.  It made you feel like you were travelling on the very path that the pioneers had taken.  We finally found a campground in the canyon.  Gary got out to take his movie pictures and asked me where we were and what was the name of the campground.  Neither of us knew.  We did have a good dinner.  He grilled t-bone steaks, we had grilled potatoes, salad, and fried bread.  Yu

December 31 2013 -- Happy New Years!

I noticed that the last post was a Merry Christmas post.  Wellllllllll..... Happy New Year! Yesterday, December 30, we headed to Florida.  One more sticker added to the camper map.  Yippee! I held the camera for five miles with the intention of not missing the change of state sign.  I had it aimed at the side of the road and was viewing every sign along the way......about the time I pushed the button for this picture, the Driver (think next year we will promote him to Travel Planner--you know it is one of those things that employers do to delay a raise in pay) hit a BUMP! The next picture is on the way to our new campground.  It is called Whispering Pines in Silver Springs, Florida.   Gary booked this campground using our Passport America.  We get full hookup sites for $14 per night.  He has done a really good job picking out the sites.  Don't you agree he needs a new title.  Travel Planner he will be!  Diesel is a little high $3.82 to $4.07. Day 81; July 17 - Sunday Day of Rest

I just wanted to hang out and enjoy the scenery today.  I was awaken this morning by a Skype call from Jessie and Mary.  Started my day off right.  I had a muffin and cream cheese for breakfast.  Last night Gary came in with two bags of groceries the neighbors had given him.  They were flying back to their home country this morning and didn't have any use for them.  They gave him four old bananas, oil, eggs, juice, salad dressing..... I made a great loaf of banana nut bread.  It was pretty good if I do say so myself.  Driver, Prissy, and I took a short walk while it was cooking. He told me he kept repeating his sad story of all the repairs that he made on his vehicles and put on his oldest clothes so people would feel sorry for him--that man!  He also is really pleased with all the goodies the girls left in the cupboards.  He has enough junk food to get him back in the lower 48.  Ha!  He really enjoyed being spoiled and said to make sure I thanked them.  Driver wanted to know i
