December 20 2013 -- Jekyll Island

I'm tired and grumpy tonight.  After I see the pictures of today's activities I understand why.....

Our first stop was at Fort King George.....

I don't know why I'm fascinated with these old, old trees with their coat of Spanish Moss.

Fort King George
On down the road we came across the Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation.  It is now a state park.  This used to be one of several plantations owned by the same lord that raised rice with the help of hundreds of slaves.

Next we drove over the bridge to Jekyll Island.  It was very interesting.

There were several large homes.  This was the Mistletoe Mansion.  Goodyear had one too.

This was part of the resort.  We accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up under a large canopy for valet parking.  Whoops!

We took a turn down the historical section.  The Tabby House was standing alone and empty.  I bet it has some stories to tell.

After stopping at the grocery store we headed back up north for the evening.   Enjoying watching the Booth Bros and Greater Vision and ???? and their Christmas special.

Christmas is sneaking up on us.  We received our first Christmas card of the season today.  Thanks Dea and Roger.  Also, I've shared photos of our grand children.  Thinking of each of you; but someday you should try a simple Christmas where your thoughts are centered around memories and the true meaning of Christmas.
