Day 20; May 18, 2011--Driving Through Wyoming

We headed out Tuesday morning around 10am (somebody's time).  We drove west through Custer State Park on Hwy 16/16A.  It connected to Interstate 90.  We drove on it to Buffalo and had lunch at McDonald's.  Gary had to have a glass of sweet tea.  He then had to make a big decision, should we head north or go south?  We chose the southern route to Worland because all the signs told us this was the most scenic route to Yellowstone.  It sure was interesting!
We went several miles though sage grass and little humps of dirt.  Interesting!

Then look out Betty Lou.  Temperatures dropped to 34 degrees while passing through Big Horn Mountains and we got into near blizzard conditions.  The snow in places (from past snows) was up to the road signs and fence posts.  It was beautiful.  Just like Christmas in May.
Of course, Miss Priss decided it was time to take a walk!  I sat in the truck and read.  That Nook sure is handy.  Any time Gary pauses for a moment, I can read more.  Can't waste time.  Wonder who taught me that?  That crazy DeOrnellis blood!
As we came down the mountains, the temperature started going up and we ran into road work.  We also passed an ambulance along the road working on a cowboy inside.  Gary assumed he fell off his horse. The construction work was so bad that when it finally passed us, it could hardly drive through--I guess it was slowing down for the patient inside.
We stopped in a little town called Manderson, WY for the night along Hwy 16/20 headed north towards Cody.  It was a few camp sights along the road ran by the lady in the house.  She wanted $20 cash.  My repair man was suppose to install the counter extension; but he was so tired he didn't even want his chair out.  After a shower and a little food, he was ready to go again; but still no shelf.  Maybe tonight!

(Deb, while sitting here working on this post, the shower door slowly opened on its own.  Gary and Prissy were still in bed!  Ghosts?  or are you ready to come ride in the truck?)
