February 16 -- North Florida Again

On February 7, we headed northwest to Silver Springs/Ocala again.  We liked the park and felt comfortable there.  The weather in Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois is still poor.  We will stay here until we see some signs of warmer weather coming.

The picture is of palm trees in a row and the car sitting there selling orchids.  (I never got one!)  This was on the northern out skirts of Homestead.  Homestead is where Uncle Ralph Wilkerson and his family came several winters to pick produce.  Aunt Dorothy has been explaining this to me and Jean Henning Bell remembers her mother talking about it too.


Just to see some new scenery, we headed west across the Everglades.  It was a good road and was a Seminole reservaton.  Construction around the Tampa area.


As we were turning east to go into Ocala, I spotted this sign stating that Ocala was the Horse Capital of the World.  Amazing!

Gary found this flock of birds interesting.

I was reminded of my brother-in-law Jerry when we saw this flea market sign.......heehee!
We are doing fine and enjoying our lazy days.  We stay busy doing nothing.  I go to bed late and get up later.  We watch a lot of basketball games, a little Olympic competition, and country music.  I read, crochet, and play on the computer.  I do enjoy baking.  I ordered an extra shelf for my oven so the kids and I can bake more than one pan of cookies at a time.

I got our taxes done.  Check.  Life is good.

Days 93 and 94; July 29 & 30 -- Canada to USA

Whee.....what a long three days.....we put a lot of miles on the vehicles and our bodies.  When I last blogged we were at Dave's RV Park in Vanderhoof, BC.  Gary said that this was one of the best kept campgrounds that we had visited.  The bathrooms were spotless and the grounds and flowers matched.  We aimed to go around 200 miles and stop.....somehow that didn't fall into place.  We stopped for lunch at a rest area.  I took this pictures overlooking the valley below from the camper door.  You can see the screen door marks on the picture.  All along this road, we passed original log houses and out buildings.  It made you feel like you were travelling on the very path that the pioneers had taken.  We finally found a campground in the canyon.  Gary got out to take his movie pictures and asked me where we were and what was the name of the campground.  Neither of us knew.  We did have a good dinner.  He grilled t-bone steaks, we had grilled potatoes, salad, and fried bread.  Yu

Day 105; August 10 -- Woman's Work?

Today the driver got up and took the truck for its 9:00am appointment.  They flushed and cleaned and changed the oil and then claimed they could not find any problems.  They suggested that we drive it and see if the cleaning and collapsed air filter correct the problem. I did the laundry, changed the sheets on the bed, cleaned out a couple of drawers, and tried to straighten the closet.  It seems to have more "stuff" than it did when we started? Is it a sign that we are ready to head home?  We get excited when we see signs with our family member's name on it? This is the Green Acres RV Park in Redding, CA.  It is what I was expecting California to be like.  It is a "picky" park that is manicured daily with two gentlemen that remind me of Uncle Ray.  (Maybe that it how I imagine California?) December 31 2013 -- Happy New Years!

I noticed that the last post was a Merry Christmas post.  Wellllllllll..... Happy New Year! Yesterday, December 30, we headed to Florida.  One more sticker added to the camper map.  Yippee! I held the camera for five miles with the intention of not missing the change of state sign.  I had it aimed at the side of the road and was viewing every sign along the way......about the time I pushed the button for this picture, the Driver (think next year we will promote him to Travel Planner--you know it is one of those things that employers do to delay a raise in pay) hit a BUMP! The next picture is on the way to our new campground.  It is called Whispering Pines in Silver Springs, Florida.   Gary booked this campground using our Passport America.  We get full hookup sites for $14 per night.  He has done a really good job picking out the sites.  Don't you agree he needs a new title.  Travel Planner he will be!  Diesel is a little high $3.82 to $4.07.
