12-15-14 Driving Around Town, Around and Around

Boy did I mess up today.  Forgot my camera and had to take pictures with my phone.  Gary wanted to drive around town.  202 to 101 to 10 to ??????

So here we go!


As always we got hungry.  We stop at Fry's Grocery store to check out the candy supply.  I've been looking for bulk candy like I was used to finding.  I did find it.  Not like home.  But in candy bins with shovels to serve yourself.  I wasn't smart enough to put the label on my bag with the stock number, so Gary had to go finish my job.

On the way into the store, I found this beautiful purple for Donna.  Just for you sis.





Then we drove and drove and ended up at the horse racing.  It was fun.  We stayed for two.  We put $2.00 on the last race (minimum).  #7 was our horse.  He jumped straight out of the shut and was a horse length ahead until the home stretch and bless his old tired heart, he came in last.  Gary chuckled all the way to the truck.

Next our goal for the day was the Phoenix state capital.  We had to drive around twice to finally get a front picture.

Next was the Arizona State Stadium where the Superbowl will be held.  Bertha II took us to the stadium where the Cubs (maybe) have their spring training.  We will have to try again another day.  GraMa was getting tired and driving in 4-6 lanes of traffic with a 60+ year old man driving puts me on pins and needles.

The last picture was of the downtown Phoenix area.  This is a nice place to stay for the winter.  Miss my family and friends more this time.  I think it is because I feel better.  My mind and heart want to go; but my knees have a different plan.  Merry Christmas!  Finish your shopping and enjoy the season.

Days 93 and 94; July 29 & 30 -- Canada to USA

Whee.....what a long three days.....we put a lot of miles on the vehicles and our bodies.  When I last blogged we were at Dave's RV Park in Vanderhoof, BC.  Gary said that this was one of the best kept campgrounds that we had visited.  The bathrooms were spotless and the grounds and flowers matched.  We aimed to go around 200 miles and stop.....somehow that didn't fall into place.  We stopped for lunch at a rest area.  I took this pictures overlooking the valley below from the camper door.  You can see the screen door marks on the picture.  All along this road, we passed original log houses and out buildings.  It made you feel like you were travelling on the very path that the pioneers had taken.  We finally found a campground in the canyon.  Gary got out to take his movie pictures and asked me where we were and what was the name of the campground.  Neither of us knew.  We did have a good dinner.  He grilled t-bone steaks, we had grilled potatoes, salad, and fried bread.  Yu

December 31 2013 -- Happy New Years!

I noticed that the last post was a Merry Christmas post.  Wellllllllll..... Happy New Year! Yesterday, December 30, we headed to Florida.  One more sticker added to the camper map.  Yippee! I held the camera for five miles with the intention of not missing the change of state sign.  I had it aimed at the side of the road and was viewing every sign along the way......about the time I pushed the button for this picture, the Driver (think next year we will promote him to Travel Planner--you know it is one of those things that employers do to delay a raise in pay) hit a BUMP! The next picture is on the way to our new campground.  It is called Whispering Pines in Silver Springs, Florida.   Gary booked this campground using our Passport America.  We get full hookup sites for $14 per night.  He has done a really good job picking out the sites.  Don't you agree he needs a new title.  Travel Planner he will be!  Diesel is a little high $3.82 to $4.07. Day 105; August 10 -- Woman's Work?

Today the driver got up and took the truck for its 9:00am appointment.  They flushed and cleaned and changed the oil and then claimed they could not find any problems.  They suggested that we drive it and see if the cleaning and collapsed air filter correct the problem. I did the laundry, changed the sheets on the bed, cleaned out a couple of drawers, and tried to straighten the closet.  It seems to have more "stuff" than it did when we started? Is it a sign that we are ready to head home?  We get excited when we see signs with our family member's name on it? This is the Green Acres RV Park in Redding, CA.  It is what I was expecting California to be like.  It is a "picky" park that is manicured daily with two gentlemen that remind me of Uncle Ray.  (Maybe that it how I imagine California?)
