January 5 2015 - Down to Yuma
We headed across the Colorado River to Blythe CA and headed down towards Yuma. We passed a lot of agriculture, baby lambs, the Imperial Sand Dunes, desert, desert, and desert. Gary missed Hwy 534 and we ended up going further west than intended. If we had not, we would have missed the sand dunes. They were awesome.
We passed a fenced in area with perfect scallops in the sand. I guessed land fill. Wrong, it was a mineral mine.
Fields and fields of broccoli, onions, cauliflower, cabbage, alfalfa. cotton. We picked a perfect day as the field workers were harvesting.
I could see this white spot in the horizon for miles. I thought it might be a ballon; but it was the great white whale. We were passing the Army Homing area.
Had a good day. Bought groceries from memory. Got a new front shade for the awning. Ours was too short. Boss thinks today it is too long, so we will need to return it. They do have a Hawkins Theater. We have drink cups for 2015.

Further down the road, we ran into the sand dunes. You would not believe that there was NOT an inch of all these acres that was NOT covered with SUV tracks.

Made it to Yuma--stopped at McDonalds for tea and had to take a picture of the water towers. I love the architecture and art work down here. It has been too cold for my liking; but it is warming up. Yesterday it was 74 in Yuma.
The picture actually looks like cotton, but it is broccoli that the workers have harvested with the leaves turned upside down.I could see this white spot in the horizon for miles. I thought it might be a ballon; but it was the great white whale. We were passing the Army Homing area.
