November 22, 2012 - Davis Lake to Holmes County State Park

Decisions, decisions....do we stay or do we go?  We enjoyed the beauty of the Davis Lake State Park.  The weather was great, but the weatherman is predicting another cold front moving south.  Also, Robert and Roberta are coming to Mississippi to visit their daughter for Thanksgiving.  So, we decided to dip a little further south for ten days.
Rest Rooms, Showers, and Laundry at Davis Lake.
We drove down the Natchez Trace Trail..  Guess how Gary shakes his head when I try to say this?  Deb, it is about as butchered as Nauvoo.  Anyway, we took the scenic drive down the Natchez Trace Trail to Holmes County State Park.  As we were driving along, we saw a sign that said Tornado Damage, April 2011.  These damaged trees were going on for miles on both sides of the trail.  The driver decided that the damage had turned into fire damage.  So, because I'm from Missouri and HAVE TO BE SHOWN, I Googled Natchez and Tornado 2011.and the tornado followed the trail for 20+ miles.  Isn't Mother Nature a Wonder?

Natchez Trace Trail; Mississippi
I sure didn't expect Mississippi to be this pretty.  Maybe it is my new look on life?  But this trail was like a lot of the roads we have taken across this state.  They are boasting the fading colors of fall and just about form a tunnel for us to enjoy.

We found us a site at Holmes State Park.  Mississippi State Parks offer a big discount for us old farts that are not smart enough to stay home.  We have electricity and water for $13 per night.  We will stay here until next Friday.  It has the same rustic Shower and Laundry House.  I did laundry for $1.25 and the dryer was $0.50.  Had to run two cycles.  Finding all three satellites under these trees is a chore; but we finally picked up all our favorite channels by sitting the cube on top of the camper.  Have to have my ballgames, HGTV, and RFDTV.

Weather has turned rainy, so will try to take pictures of the park later this week.  Today we went east to Carthage for a Wal-Mart run.  I was making the decision if I wanted to cook Thanksgiving or eat out.  I just don't feel right not cooking, so we are going to try a small feast for the three of us.  (Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Miss Priss.)
