Day 2 - Kids at Zoo

Today we got up early and was at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo at the opening of the gates.  Everyone was taken with the baby giraffes,  Mary was the only one with any shots left on her camera.  Smart little girl!

Of course we had to ride the antique Merry-Go-Round.  Each one had a big smile as they rode by.  The older ones had to have a ride too.

Mary is not afraid of anything or anyone.......

We saw bears, lions, tigers, and snakes!

Ohhhhh, what is this?  Looks like four tired kids and one pooped GrMa.  It was a long way to the top and GrMa's knees thought it was a lot longer to the bottom.  Everyone is hungry and thirsty.  Now to agree on where to eat lunch?

Guess, Burger King and his Whoopers Won!

Here is the crew feeling much better after having some good ole American food in their tummies.  They were ready to practice their rock climbing skills while GrMa took her nap......well sleep seems not to be in our plans for this little trip.  A little thunder storm rolled over the mountains and pushed the kids and Grandpa inside,,,,,,,,too many kids, too many adults, and not enough room.  So we decided to take a drive to see if we could find where the forest fires had been burning,  They wanted to stop at the visitor's center.  The ranger had a tame bull snake that no one had enough nerve to pet.  Calvin claimed that if he had his gloves he would have wanted to.....

After we drove up to Woodland Park, we all needed more liquids added to our diets.  The little girls decided they needed a miniature ice cream cone..  They only served the new chocolate-covered cones.  Of course we couldn't resist these.  Snacks and back to the camper.  Grandpa decided they would stay outside while I made spaghetti.  I dumped a glass of tea.and had to clean the floor.  Got the meals served up, dumped my plate coming down the stairs.  Finally, we were all seated and having a good meal with cantaloupe when the wind came over the mountain and blew Mary's plate into her face.   Oh, well.

Sunset brought baths, bed making, and movie watching.  Everyone is sound asleep. They were tired and full.  They didn't even ask for a bedtime snack.

I think they decided we should drive up Pikes Peak tomorrow.  We need to get their film developed and they have glue glitter art to create.  They are starting to ask when it is time to go home.  But other than that, they have been too busy.  I'd better get to bed so I can try to keep up tomorrow.
