Southeast Arizona

Wednesday, I was hankering for some ice cream.  Gota have it!  Gota have it!  So off to town we went.  After I got my ice cream and Gary his cherry coke, we decided to see what was on the other side of the river.  I didn't this existed; but Jerry, our neighbor from Wyoming, had told Gary about this little little attraction.  I found this information on the internet for your reading pleasure.  Enjoy?

Gammons Gulch; Benson AZ
Our Movie Set Location is perfect for your productions. We provide not only a Old West Town with a wide main street, but one with side streets and alley ways. Also as you cross the Dry Wash which has been used for many other scenes, you come to “The Gulch” which in it lies our Mining Camp.
The mining camp has a mine, a miners Cabin ore cars, mining equipment and a huge one lunger engine that works. Another feature it has is a full beautiful view of the Mountains to the West of Gammons Gulch.
Some of the stars that have appeared in productions at Gammons Gulch are: Jeff Fahey and Kristian Alfonso from the day time television soap show “Days of our Lives” who starred in the movie “Day of Redemption”, Sheree Wilson (Walker: Texas Ranger; Dallas), William Shockley (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman; The Young Riders), and Peter Coyote (The 4400; Brothers & Sisters) who Starred in “The Gundown” have been at our Filming location.
Music Video Productions such as Alyssa Milano’s “I Had a Dream” or Brian Lopez music video “Pray for Rain”. Also out of Phoenix Arizona a rock group called “Calabrieze”.
Great Southern Wood Preserving Incorporated, Abbeville, Alabama have done numerous “YellaWood” commercials at our movie set location. Also Greere Doors from Tucson Arizona.
Television Productions such as a reality based show from Belgium called “Wedding Bells In America” and “Wild Wild West” reality show from Denmark.
Our Western Town in Arizona is featured in the History Channel’s Western Tech Series, where you can see our Old West Town and Telegraph office.
Gammons Gulch is an ideal location for professional photo shoot workshops. Privacy and one on one dealings with the owners of Gammons Gulch allows direct attention to all your needs.




Friday is our normal sightseeing day.  We chose the scenic route to the south of Benson.  Our first stop was to be Cochise Stronghold.  We passed this power plant on the way.


For my followers from Illinois (Dougherty Family),  this family built this home to live in to help with asthma symptoms.

As we pulled into the Chiricahua Mountains, we saw this gray deer close to the road.  Not afraid of us at all.  When I talked to him, he just turned around to pay attention.

This is the Welcoming Center.

These pictures below are just awesome.  What interesting mountains.










This cemetary was for the family that had a ranch in these mountains.


Our next stop was to see Fort Bowie.  We drove on a dirt road for 10 miles and got to the point where you had to hike 1.5 miles to see the remains of the fort.  Next time, I will have new knees and will head out to see this..

On the way home we passed pistachio farms and grape growers.

Another great day in Arizona.  I guess I haven't seen anything in the USA that I don't like.  Every piece of God's land is magical.

Days 93 and 94; July 29 & 30 -- Canada to USA

Whee.....what a long three days.....we put a lot of miles on the vehicles and our bodies.  When I last blogged we were at Dave's RV Park in Vanderhoof, BC.  Gary said that this was one of the best kept campgrounds that we had visited.  The bathrooms were spotless and the grounds and flowers matched.  We aimed to go around 200 miles and stop.....somehow that didn't fall into place.  We stopped for lunch at a rest area.  I took this pictures overlooking the valley below from the camper door.  You can see the screen door marks on the picture.  All along this road, we passed original log houses and out buildings.  It made you feel like you were travelling on the very path that the pioneers had taken.  We finally found a campground in the canyon.  Gary got out to take his movie pictures and asked me where we were and what was the name of the campground.  Neither of us knew.  We did have a good dinner.  He grilled t-bone steaks, we had grilled potatoes, salad, and fried bread.  Yu

December 31 2013 -- Happy New Years!

I noticed that the last post was a Merry Christmas post.  Wellllllllll..... Happy New Year! Yesterday, December 30, we headed to Florida.  One more sticker added to the camper map.  Yippee! I held the camera for five miles with the intention of not missing the change of state sign.  I had it aimed at the side of the road and was viewing every sign along the way......about the time I pushed the button for this picture, the Driver (think next year we will promote him to Travel Planner--you know it is one of those things that employers do to delay a raise in pay) hit a BUMP! The next picture is on the way to our new campground.  It is called Whispering Pines in Silver Springs, Florida.   Gary booked this campground using our Passport America.  We get full hookup sites for $14 per night.  He has done a really good job picking out the sites.  Don't you agree he needs a new title.  Travel Planner he will be!  Diesel is a little high $3.82 to $4.07. Day 119; August 24 - Finally!

Here we are.  Friday we signed the papers with the promise of picking up the truck on Monday.  But, life likes to remind us who is boss.  We left this afternoon around 2pm with the 2001 Diesel.  I told Gary on the way to the dealer that it was like taking our German Shepard to the vet with the intention of putting her down, and he would could home with her again.  Too hard to depart.  The Diesel didn't want to say good-bye either! But tonight, after drawing the attention of the New Car Manager (all the sales personnel knew us by name) and General Manager, the truck was finished.  A couple from California stopped by to ask questions and visit about diesels.  I think that did it!......  when the customers thought we were a permanent fixture to the store.  Our truck got finished around 6pm.  The General Manager said if we had to stay longer they would buy us dinner.......The first running boards they tried to install were not right, so we got an upgrade.  They are nice!  The Driver
