January 9 2015 - Up to Laughlin Nevada

Image
Friday we chose to go north towards Parker AZ.  We always like to go one way and come home another.  It was confusing; but we went north on the California side on Hwy Cal 95 and came back down on the Arizona side on Hwy AZ 95. First picture is heading north into the mountains. Our first stop was at McDonalds in Needles, CA.    It was on top of a hill overlooking the train tracks and the city below.  View while eating..... Because we were getting close to Vegas I decided to call my friend MK.  She thought we should go on up to Laughlin NV and check out the area.  It was only 12 more miles north. This picture is houses grouped very closely along the Colorado River.  We followed the river up north and came down on the other side.  We crossed the river at Bullhead, AZ.  Mary Kay, there are several casinos along Casino Avenue.  Hopefully there would be shuttle buses.  It was clean and somewhere we might enjo...

January 5 2015 - Down to Yuma

Image
We headed across the Colorado River to Blythe CA and headed down towards Yuma.  We passed a lot of agriculture, baby lambs, the Imperial Sand Dunes, desert, desert, and desert.  Gary missed Hwy 534 and we ended up going further west than intended.  If we had not, we would have missed the sand dunes.  They were awesome. California State Line  We passed a fenced in area with perfect scallops in the sand.  I guessed land fill.  Wrong, it was a mineral mine. Further down the road, we ran into the sand dunes.  You would not believe that there was NOT an inch of all these acres that was NOT covered with SUV tracks. Imperial Sand Dunes, CA  Fields and fields of broccoli, onions, cauliflower, cabbage, alfalfa. cotton.  We picked a perfect day as the field workers were harvesting. Made it to Yuma--stopped at McDonalds for tea and had to take a picture of the water towers.  I love the architecture and art work down here...

December 30 2014 - Ehrenburg AZ Here We Come

Image
Tuesday morning we headed west to Ehrenburg AZ.  We took I-10.   We were excited to see Quartzsite AZ because we have read in travel magazines that this is were several Snowbirds come and pay a small fee to dry camp on federal land.  There were several campers parked on this land.  The area was pretty rustic and there seemed to be several homeless and low income people hanging around.  We only stopped for a little bit at McDonalds to share a salad. Ehrenburg is pretty rustic too.  I was pretty concerned when we reached the area but our campground, River Breeze RV Resort is nice.  It is located on the Colorado River.  This is a picture heading down to the river.  The park has four rows of campers.  Two in the center are pull through sites.  I'm really starting to like the park model homes.  Some have decks and screened in porches.  Two are for sale.  Still leaning on settling in the Branson area. ...

December 23 2014 - Christmas Eve in the Desert

Image
Needed to sit some tradition for us for Christmas Alone.  So, I suggested we go out and look at Christmas lights in the deserts.  We saw some pretty lights, but God does the best....... Gary drove around the Scotsdale area.  We saw serveral houses that were excellent. Merry Christmas to all family and friends.  We do miss you and miss the dinners but decided that flying or driving in the cold would defeat coming south for the winter.  In the spring, we will sit a tradition of Memorial Weekend celebration with family.
