March 1 2014 - USS Alabama and Dauphin Island
Got to get the memory clicking......
These pictures started on Thursday, Gary spent several hours touring the ship and I read. Both us of were happy.
This picture has a lump with a cap at the top of the stairs. That would be our driver and trip planner.
I took the next picture because for some dumb reason Gary was crawling under the left shield. I could hardly wait until he came back to see what he saw? Well, he had seen other men looking under and he was wondering what they saw?
This is a picture of Gary. Aim wasn't good. Didn't get his handsome face!
Finally, headed to Dauphin Island. Had to pass through a tunnel with a promise of an ice tea.
We crossed another long bridge with a hump made for the shipping ships to pass under.
Finally reached Dauphin Island. They had a historic fort too. But not one fast food restaurant. Who can live without McDonalds? I've tried to give up diet pop. It seems to make my kidneys weak. We didn'get get to go the length of the island because someone took too long looking under ever ledge on the ship and it was time for Miss Priss to have her afternoon walk. Yes, I'm still thirsty.
On the way back to our Campground, Wilderness RV Park, at Robertsdale, we went over a bridge that you could see the ships being unloaded.
Also, you know my love for old homes. This was an old hotel. Beautiful. It was for sale. Anyone want to go into this business? Not me!
Finally, my ice tea We have now eaten at all three Lamberts. In our opinion, the one in Ozark, Missouri, is the best. You know, you just can't beat Missouri! Tigers, Cardinals, Royals, and our family.
The next picture was taken on Friday morning when we were driving to Mississippi. I had missed a picture a few days ago; but these were floats being escorted to Mobile for the Mardi Gras parade. They were more elaborate that floats that I have seen in local parades. Also, did you know that Mobile held the first Mardi Gras parade?
Friday afternoon we arrived at the Ameristar RV Park in Vicksburg MS. We had stayed here when we came here to visit our friends, Robert and Roberta, Roberta, Roberta. You can see Gary heading to the office to check into our space.
