Image
Merry Christmas!  Welcome to Yazoo, Mississippi  We took Hwy 243 to 3, then hit 61 to get to the Ameristar Campground in Vicksburg, MS.  Since we had visited Yazoo the other day, Santa was displayed to greet everyone coming into town.  I love Christmas! Ameristar Casino Campground We could not find a RV parts dealer. so we are still walking to the shower house when Mother Nature calls. This park is very nice.  The showers and laundry room are clean and updated.  It costs $27 per night or $565 per month. The weather is warmer.  We heard on the news that the low of 19 on Thanksgiving morning was a  tied record for second place.  Sure glad that front has moved on out of the area.  We saw diesel for $3.47 while out on our Wal-Mart run.  We got boxes and boxed up the gifts to go to the kids.  Tomorrow we will try to find a postage service and get them on their merry way.  I got a poinsettia for a Christmas tre...

November 26, 2013 - Canton MS Again and Again

On the way to do laundry, I decided to take a picture of the shower house/laundry room.  If you look closely, the laundry pair is in the screened area between the restrooms. Holmes County State Park Mississippi Site #2 for the Travelers Court House Square in Canton MS As we were trying to find a seal for my pressure cooker at the Presto Factory in Canton, we passed this Court House.  This town was getting ready to have a Victorian Christmas Celebration.  There was a merry-go-round for the young and the young-at-heart. Little Red School House (Mississippi) We took the exit to visit this school house.  It is the birth place of the Eastern Star.  It has housed soldiers, It is full of history. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  Going to make pumpkin and pecan pies tomorrow.  Finished wrapping gifts today.  Now when we get to Vicksburg, we will find a UPS office and help Santa get a few packages on the way. ...

November 22, 2012 - Davis Lake to Holmes County State Park

Image
Decisions, decisions....do we stay or do we go?  We enjoyed the beauty of the Davis Lake State Park.  The weather was great, but the weatherman is predicting another cold front moving south.  Also, Robert and Roberta are coming to Mississippi to visit their daughter for Thanksgiving.  So, we decided to dip a little further south for ten days. Rest Rooms, Showers, and Laundry at Davis Lake.   We drove down the Natchez Trace Trail..  Guess how Gary shakes his head when I try to say this?  Deb, it is about as butchered as Nauvoo.  Anyway, we took the scenic drive down the Natchez Trace Trail to Holmes County State Park.  As we were driving along, we saw a sign that said Tornado Damage, April 2011.  These damaged trees were going on for miles on both sides of the trail.  The driver decided that the damage had turned into fire damage.  So, because I'm from Missouri and HAVE TO BE SHOWN, I Googled Natchez an...

November 19, 2013--Tupelo MS

We drove along several roads like this across Mississippi.  They were tree lined and full of fall colors.     Somehow Gary found this campground.  It is Davis Lake, just to the east of the Natchez Trail.  The little lake is peaceful.  It cost $13 per night and we are staying here for three nights.  There is no laundry room.  After we had started setting up, the camp host knocked on our door to tell us the water was out in our space and they would work on it the next day.  That was fine with us.  We had just emptied and filled our tanks. This is NOT Elvis or Vernon Presley, it is my hunk of burning love.  We are at the homeplace of the Presley Family. Back Door to the Home Place Front View Statue of Elvis (Age 13) The Assembly of God Church he attended.  It was moved to this location. Note:  the Outside Plumbing.  When I was talking to Kevin this morning, he sa...

It is Sunday November 17.  Today would have been Daddy's 96th birthday.  95 was good though.  I do believe he was ready to meet his family by the river of life. Cotton Bales Cotton Mill  Today we stopped at Isle of Capri to take care of the call of nature and eat lunch.  I forgot how much I enjoyed playing these games.  It is relaxing. Casinos across the Tunica Casino Strip Sam's Town RV Park This park has been very enjoyable.  It was quiet.  It is clean.  The laundry room and restrooms were recently rebuilt after the last flood.  Cost was $17 per night.  It is patrolled by the security guards too.

November 16 2013 Hot Springs to Tunica

Image
We went site seeing and drove up Hot Springs Mountain to this tower.  I didn't care to see the view from any further up and tightwad didn't want to pay the fee.  It was a beautiful drive though. Hot Springs Mountain Tower View from the summit. Bath House Row   I chose not to have a massage and bath.  It was tempting; but my body scares me and gives me nightmares.  Enough said........ View of Hot Springs Hot Springs National Park Campground   This park would be one that we would want to visit again.  Seniors get half off and we stayed here threes nights at $14 per night for full hooks.  Satellite was hard to get through the trees; but the driver made GraMa happy and was able to pull it off. Mississippi Border We were going to try to make it to Tupelo; but because we are gypsies and don't have to be anywhere anytime we stopped at Tunica, Mississipp.  We found a nice campground with a full view of the southern sk...

I APOLOGIZE FOR MISSPELLED WORDS AND ETC.  MY EYESIGHT ISN'T WANT IT USED TO BE!  NEVER REALIZED THAT THERE WOULD BE SO MANY SIDE EFFECTS TO BREAST CANCER. Santa, Barb, and Gale  At the first of November we headed to Branson.  The plastic surgeon decided that we needed to wait until after January to do any type of surgery after the radiation.  I'm still dark brown and peeling from the damage.  Gary asked if there was a danger to wait until after March.  So we decided to go for snow birding in the south for the complete winter.  Barbara and Gale Carman meet us at Branson and we enjoyed a day at Silver Dollar City, shows, and a lot of new restaurants.  Barbara took care of the planning and the search for coupons.  Had a good time with family. Sandy and Gary My hair is growing slowly and my legs, knees, and hips are getting worse.  Maybe someday I'll get enough nerve to get my knees fixed.  Although, the hormone blocker...
