Ode to Vegas

Vegas Trip 2011

Here we go again and one year older doesn’t seem to slow us down
We have our bags packed and are headed to Big Vegas Downtown
Left Onaga around noon to pick up our friend from Topeka Kansas
Arrived at the KCI airport and parked in C7 to catch our shuttle bus

Smooth flight and arrived in Denver right on time we are so pleased
No problems with our forty-five minute lay-over and, everyone pee-ed
Arrived in Vegas, caught our cab for thirty bucks and headed to the Queen
Arrived to check-in and guess what?  Our reservations no one had seen

Still everything went well, the old travel agent had the confirmation number
Wrong date but we were able to have our rooms and a place to slumber
Powdered our noses and headed to the Fremont, everyone is starving
Chinese Food, shrimp cocktails,  and drinks is what everyone was craving

Two of our girls had sense enough to go to bed, two were ready to party
Can’t imagine why they missed breakfast, they had been really naughty
Played the slots until 4:30am Onaga time and crashed in bed to sleep
Phone was not even noticed when a text came in with a strong beep

Decided maybe breakfast might not be a good meeting time for the four
That seemed to work and they ate and played games a lot more
Made the rounds of all the downtown on the last day and some had luck
Even if it is a friend sitting at the machine you just played, it still suck

Thursday up early to catch a 7am flight, made us get up at 3:30am our time
Tickets had been printed and the girls went through the security line
Had a few bumps but we were making great time as the wind was behind
Arrived at the dreaded Denver port and our plane we couldn’t find

Hurricane winds in Colorado?  Must have blown plane to China and back
OH, we are one hour late, go move to another gate with my back pack
Oh, that’s not good let’s move you to another gate and take a small plane
Settling into my seat, I look at my neighbor and it wasn’t a plain Jane

It was a girl from Onaga and we visited about several subjects and slept
Made it back to Kansas, everyone is safe at home and have napped
Might have enough energy to try another trip next year with our four
Like everyone says, Good Luck to you and don’t get hit in the butt with the door!

Days 93 and 94; July 29 & 30 -- Canada to USA

Whee.....what a long three days.....we put a lot of miles on the vehicles and our bodies.  When I last blogged we were at Dave's RV Park in Vanderhoof, BC.  Gary said that this was one of the best kept campgrounds that we had visited.  The bathrooms were spotless and the grounds and flowers matched.  We aimed to go around 200 miles and stop.....somehow that didn't fall into place.  We stopped for lunch at a rest area.  I took this pictures overlooking the valley below from the camper door.  You can see the screen door marks on the picture.  All along this road, we passed original log houses and out buildings.  It made you feel like you were travelling on the very path that the pioneers had taken.  We finally found a campground in the canyon.  Gary got out to take his movie pictures and asked me where we were and what was the name of the campground.  Neither of us knew.  We did have a good dinner.  He grilled t-bone steaks, we had grilled potatoes, salad, and fried bread.  Yu

December 31 2013 -- Happy New Years!

I noticed that the last post was a Merry Christmas post.  Wellllllllll..... Happy New Year! Yesterday, December 30, we headed to Florida.  One more sticker added to the camper map.  Yippee! I held the camera for five miles with the intention of not missing the change of state sign.  I had it aimed at the side of the road and was viewing every sign along the way......about the time I pushed the button for this picture, the Driver (think next year we will promote him to Travel Planner--you know it is one of those things that employers do to delay a raise in pay) hit a BUMP! The next picture is on the way to our new campground.  It is called Whispering Pines in Silver Springs, Florida.   Gary booked this campground using our Passport America.  We get full hookup sites for $14 per night.  He has done a really good job picking out the sites.  Don't you agree he needs a new title.  Travel Planner he will be!  Diesel is a little high $3.82 to $4.07. Day 105; August 10 -- Woman's Work?

Today the driver got up and took the truck for its 9:00am appointment.  They flushed and cleaned and changed the oil and then claimed they could not find any problems.  They suggested that we drive it and see if the cleaning and collapsed air filter correct the problem. I did the laundry, changed the sheets on the bed, cleaned out a couple of drawers, and tried to straighten the closet.  It seems to have more "stuff" than it did when we started? Is it a sign that we are ready to head home?  We get excited when we see signs with our family member's name on it? This is the Green Acres RV Park in Redding, CA.  It is what I was expecting California to be like.  It is a "picky" park that is manicured daily with two gentlemen that remind me of Uncle Ray.  (Maybe that it how I imagine California?)
