March 17 2014 -- Springtime in Texas HaHa

Image
Saturday, March 15, we awoke to a spring day.  The pear trees in the front yard are in full bloom.  We are heading to the Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas.  Yippee, ki Oh!  Of course, we have to stop at McDonalds for breakfast. It took 1 1/2 - 2 hours.  Depending on how you look at things.  Here in one of the first entry gates.... Southfork Ranch  The driver and his cute bride, gag gag, are ready to load the tram. And these are our good friends that we have tried not to drive too crazy.  Roberta had the two men and her Onstar gps system telling her where to go and I was my usual Nervous Nellie and let her know when cars were getting too close to my side of the car. Robert (Bob) and Roberta Henry  Sandy Carman and Roberta Henry (Don't look 64 do we?)  The photographer wanted to make sure that we saw the memorial graves for Miss Ellie, Jock, and J.R.  He had a stone company to make a duplicate one that w...

Deb informed me that it had been five days since I had posted on the blog.  WELLLLLL, I've just been too busy.  We have been eating, going to church, shopping for a new computer, playing cards, eating, shopping for groceries, getting our hair done, eating, now we are trying to set the new computer for her needs, eating, sleeping.........Gary has been working at the house down by the river with Bob and Robert.   Gary and I had a little trouble with the time change.  We were suppose to meet Bob and Roberta to go to breakfast and to church.  So I sit the clock up in the bedroom before I went to bed.  We got up on time, went to sit in the car to wait on them.  We waited, waited, and waited.  Gary went to the door and woke their grand daughter that was sleeping on the sofa and told her we were ready and waiting in the car.  We waited more and got cold and watched the red birds......and finally went back to the camper.  We discovered that...

March 5 2014 -- Monroe LA and Tyler TX

A little behind.  Somehow I scratched my eye and have been babying it.  Blurry vision and PAIN! We agreed that the campground at Ameristar had the best site.  We were on the end and looked out into the brush that had a train track in the valley.  Good to be old and deaf, doesn't bother us! We had to make a travel plan based on weather forecast again.  This is the first Sunday we have traveled.  Usually we take Saturday and Sunday off and give the younger generation the roads.  But, we took out across the Mississippi River and headed into Louisiana.  Another decision, did I want to see New Orleans or go to West Monroe.  New Orleans was hosting Mardi Gras, so I choose the Dynasty crew. Welcome to Louisiana! We parked at the Pavillion RV Park along HWY 20.  We headed to town to find some friends. Willie has a Diner.  We had their Chicken Fried Steak Dinner.  It was too spicy for Gary, but I always need sp...

March 1 2014 - USS Alabama and Dauphin Island

Image
Got to get the memory clicking...... These pictures started on Thursday, Gary spent several hours touring the ship and I read.  Both us of were happy. USS Alabama at Mobile This picture has a lump with a cap at the top of the stairs.  That would be our driver and trip planner. I took the next picture because for some dumb reason Gary was crawling under the left shield.  I could hardly wait until he came back to see what he saw?  Well, he had seen other men looking under and he was wondering what they saw? This is a picture of Gary.  Aim wasn't good.  Didn't get his handsome face! Finally, headed to Dauphin Island.  Had to pass through a tunnel with a promise of an ice tea. We crossed another long bridge with a hump made for the shipping ships to pass under. Finally reached Dauphin Island.  They had a historic fort too.  But not one fast food restaurant.  Who can live without McDonalds?  I've tried t...
