November 20 2014 Long Trip on Apache Trail AZ 88

Image
We headed out bright and early at 9am.  Bertha II directed us to Krispie Kreme.  My favorite doughnut.  Took my own coffee and stopped for a glass of McDonald's ice tea.  Thank goodness because it was a long trip on a road (if that is what you want to call it?). Our first stop was at Goldfield.  A ghost mining town. Goldfield AZ Goldfield AZ We then took to the road and checked out the Lost Dutchman State Park.  Electrical Sights for $30 per night.  I'm just fine in our senior park. Spotted a little spot of water in the horizon.  Road is still paved at this time. AZ 88  On down the road to this little settlement.  Gary tells me this trail was an old stagecoach route. Tortilla Flats AZ  Back on the road.  Dessert and clear blue skies and weather in the 60s.  We are gradually heading up into the mountains. AZ 88  From here on the road was rough and SLOW.  Curve after curve and washb...

First order of Business:  Thank you to all the ladies and gentlemen who have served our country in one branch or the other.  I appreciate my freedom and don't appreciate the fact that the laws are protecting the views of the minority and taking our freedom from us.  Each person has a right to their belief.  If you don't then leave me alone and others that want to say a prayer, want In God We Trust on our currency, and we want the constitution restored and all the petty laws that have been added gone. Now, for a wonderful day.  We left Eagar AZ early this morning.  I never dreams that Arizona would have the kind of scenery that we enjoyed today. West on Hwy 60 Fall Leaves Showing Off Their Fall Colors Mountains in the Horizon Copper and Gold Mining Mining A Real Cactus (and a lot of them!) I was totally taken by surprise when Gary asked me to put the address into Bertha the GPA.  He was taking me to Carefree Ma...

We actually got a pretty early start.  I went to bed last night at 9pm and was up with the sun.  This ole body has NOT adjusted to the new time. We are heading west on Hwy 60 to Eagar AZ.  On the map it looked like a short trip; but with the high winds it made for a long drive. New Mexico Mountains We went over the Continental Divide.  Altitude was around 7766.  Just on the other side was a small development of PieTown.  Most of the buildings were vacant; but it you want to start your own business this location is For Sale. For Sale:  Business in Pie Town This is an example of  your competition. TaaDaa:  We made it to Arizona : 30+ Miles and we were at the campground for the night. F Diamond (Diamond in the Rough) Rate was $25.00 We have our solar rocking chair tonight.  The wind is still blowing and the trailer is still rocking. Happy Trails.......stay safe and be nice to each other.

Robby had said that Union Pacific ran through the area we were traveling.  We saw several trains, but this one caught my eye. This saying was on a camper that was in front of us.  Made it to New Mexico.  Yeah. New Mexico Fall Leaves  I didn't realize that we would be in mountains.  Don't think we really are.  Just big hills. We arrived at Bernardo, New Mexico at the Kiva RV Park.  Rate was $24.00.  We will be headed into Arizona tomorrow.  Trucking down the road at a fast pace for us. We had a little excitement today.  In a small town back east a motorcycle pulled in front of us.  I don't know what kept us from running over him.  I screamed.  (Sorry to say curse words.)  There was a sound of contact; but when Gary stopped to look there was no sign of damage to the truck.  The little smarty pants on the cycle just kept on going........

First Day of Winter 2014 (November 8 2014)

We left Sharon Springs after the mail was delivered.  Luckily the new MiFi came and we headed south for the winter.  The weather was perfect.  Sun was shining and no wind.   Sharon Springs School and Water Tower  I tried to catch the golden leaves on the cottonwood trees in the bottom land of Kansas.  Actually with the sun shining on the leaves they were gorgeous. Golden Cottonwood Trees  We were in three states today.  Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Entering Oklahoma Entering Texas (Had to turn around and get this!)  We stayed at Dalhart, Texas at the Corral R.V. Park.  Rate was $21.60.  Gravel park, but clean and we slept well.

Week with Jason and his Girls (November 2014)

Image
Our intent was to stay to watch Jessie play her first junior-high basketball game.  The weather got cool, cold, but stayed dry.  I had told the girls that we would stay until the game was over unless it snowed or we had ice.  One morning walking to the house, Mary and I passed ice along the sidewalk.  GraMa you know that is not from the sky.  Dad threw it out from his fish.  She is always thinking.  We did stay an extra day because Cassie had a substitute job at the school and we got to watch Kit and Mary got to stay home to take care of Kit and GraMa. Below are some pictures of Jessie at her game. Cheerleaders Coach giving detailed directions! Jessie thinking the situation over! Jessie with her hands on the ball. Kit and Mary with Grandma Mona and Papa Don wrapped around their fingers. We had a great time with the kids and always enjoy seeing Don and Mona.
