Day 96; August 1 -- Road Trip 3 to Mt. Rainier
We got up pretty late and Gary went into town to get the tire fixed while I took a shower. He came back with bad news, they informed him the new tire we bought in Anchorage had a hole too close to the side wall to be fixed and he had to buy a new one.....
He put that one on and we ate a little lunch (cereal and bologna). We then headed out for a sightseeing trip. The driver headed into a state park camping area to check them out. Way too close to pull the trailer through. Look at this big tree....I told him he should get out and stand by it so we could just imagine how large it really was!
This is the entry into the Mt. Rainier National Park.
What could be more beautiful? A snow covered Mountain Rainier with pine trees in the front.
We are getting closer.......Are we going to run into it?
They had a lodge at the top, called "Paradise" So, we have been to Paradise today.
Going down the mountain, we passed a large glacier passage. Can't imagine how that a large piece of ice years and years ago was able to carve these large canyons and leave a rock bed behind.
We stopped in a little town called Randall and stopped at the local IGA for groceries. Things were not too unreasonable; but Pepsi was still too high!
We had leftovers for dinner. Last night I fixed a Chicken Bake and there was half of it left. Don't think we will have to worry about losing weight while on this trip.
I understand that tomorrow we will head into Oregon. I think we are headed for the shoreline.
Take care....and love to all. If you see a glare coming from the west, it is probably the driver and his passenger sunbathing on the beach! Ugh!
