Day 107; August 12 -- Reno to Elko -- Nevada
We left this morning around 9:15am. It was down right chilly when we got up; but as soon as the sun came up, the camper got hot and the air kicked into action.
This is our site at the KOA at Reno Boomtown.
Can you believe that I was in Reno and had no desire to play the slot machines. I was pooped. My feet are swollen to twice their size (hot weather does that to me!). I just wanted to sit with my feet up in the cool.
This is how close we were to the casino.
We headed into the desert. Landscape changed drastically.
Time for a "potty" break for Miss Priss and GrMa. We couldn't find any grass and there diffidently was NOT a tree big enough for a break and there never is a rest area when you need one.
There were four tunnels going into this mountain. I got three of them in the picture. Two were for the traffic, one for UP trains, and one for the Amtrak.
Isn't this an interesting rock formation? You know I said the desert was ugly, but it really isn't. Everything has beauty hidden somewhere.......even me!
Tomorrow we are headed to the KOA in Salt Lake City, We are staying two days there and then on down the road we will go. It was really hot here in Elko (and no, I didn't go playing slots here either!). I'm sitting here cooling off with my feet up. The camper is just now cooling off from all the heat built up as we crossed the sandy land.
