Day 102; August 7 -- Roseburg to Crescent City
This morning we left Roseburg, OR and drove to Crescent City, CA. We went from 83 degrees to 58 degrees in about 50 miles. We drove through some amazing trees and are about 3 miles from the shore. On the way down Hwy 5 South, we stopped at a rest area. Priss and I really wanted to get out for a walk after reading this sign.
Here we are arriving at California. I have now been to four states that I have never visited until this year!
We are driving through the Redwood National Forest.
These trees are really large.
Now we are at the Pacific Ocean. You could hear the otters talking to each other. I tried to take a picture; but I missed and they move really fast!
You can seen the beacon going around from this light house. The driver tells me that if we go tomorrow at low tide we can walk up to this area.
We had to drive around the block to get this picture. It was an elderly lady taking her dog for a walk. She was in her motorized chair and the dog was trotting beside it. We just missed the shot of the dog and his fire-hydrant business.
This is Site 2A at the KOA along Hwy 101. The laundry is right behind us. I have already done the laundry today.
We had left-over tuna salad from dinner. I made a pasta salad with the left-over spaghetti from the other night. It wasn't as good as the Windmill at Seneca; but it wasn't too bad! For dessert we had fresh strawberries, short cake, and ice cream.
As we were driving down, we went through a town that was having a Wild Blackberry Festival. There were blackberries growing along the road. Yummy! Driver wouldn't stop and pick any.
