Dec 4 2013 - Sightseeing Around Demopolis AL

It was HOT and HUMID today!  Temperature was 79 degrees this afternoon.  Had to turn the air on in the camper because Miss Priss was getting hot.  We did a load of laundry today.  Laundry was $1.00 each for the washer and dryer.  We then headed into town to get a hamburger at McDonalds and Gary wanted to know if I was going to cook when we got home.  If not, he was going to eat at a restaurant.  Tricky isn't he?
So, we ate at a place called The Farmhouse.  Several cars were in the parking lot so that means to Gary that it is a good place to eat.  It was good and it offered a buffet for the lunch crowd.  Next, we can't miss Wal-Mart.  I got the ingredients to make the Cherry Mesh Bars.  I couldn't find any cherry chips, so I got white chocolate ones and found some Watkins Cherry Flavoring.  Made for a pretty good substitute.  We then headed northeast to the first mansion.  On the way we passed several (more than 20) of these catfish farms.

Next we came across a sign for the State Cattle Ranch.  Because we are hillbilly farm-raised Missourians, we had to see this big ranch.  They were not very friendly.  When I got home I googled it, and it was a prison farm.  Dah!

We finally got back on the trail of old mansions.  The first one was Magnolia Grove.

After visiting Greensboro, we headed east to Eutaw and then south back to Demopolis.  In town we visited the Bluff Hall.  I beautiful home on the bluffs of the Bigtombee River.

On the way back through town the grandest of the day, Gaineswood.Mansion.

After the tour, we returned home and I made the Cherry Mesh Bars and settled down for the evening.  Weather tells us that the north west is expecting a huge storm.  It is dipping into Mississippi.  Tomorrow we are headed east to Georgia.
