Travelling Trio

 I was sitting in the camper icing down my knee while Gary went for a walk.  When he came back he had picked a bouquet of wildflowers.  Will wonders ever cease?  I loved them........  Robert and Roberta got to Yoakum around 2pm.  We ate dinner at the local restaurant and attended the David Church Concert.  The show was opened by a Arnold Parker.  He was a member of the Louisiana Hayride but still had a pretty good voice. When we got home after the concert, Gary said that he had really enjoyed the show.  That was "Country Music" sang the way it should.  This is David Church and his wife.

We choose a trip to the bay for our road trip.  We headed south/east on Hwy 111 and then took Hwy 172.  We drove south and ended up by the ocean.  I took 23 pictures, but I will not burden you with them all. Oil Refinery, Oil Refinery, Oil Refinery........ Bay of Monaco (?)  We took this bridge over the Gulf.  You could see the Holiday Inn and Motel 6. I want to stay here next time.  The weather was great.  Warm. but not humid, breezy and just look at the clouds and trees.  You could stay in this park from October to March for $360 per month. We actually got out of the truck and walked out over the wetlands.  (Even after reading the "Don't Feed the Alligators" sign.) As I was walking along, I saw a lot of movement in the muddy water.  Got to looking, and no there was not an alligator in site; but these crabby looking varmints were all over the place and running into little holes.  (March ...

I have been busy the last few days finishing a little quilt and crocheting an afghan for our new grand-daughter.  I sure will be glad to met her and have a name to put to her little face. These are my projects for this past month.  I don't have time to be bored.  I finished the tiger quilt last week and started the baby quilt..  Yesterday afternoon I finished the baby quilt after I bought more green material and then I finished the afghan last night before I went to bed. Last night I was putting our Sunday-night pizza in the oven and dumped it upside down on the floor.  (Don't tell anyone--I picked it up and threw the toppings back on it and stuck it in the oven!)  Couldn't tell.  Now you will watch me like a hawk when you come to eat at my house! I also took a new navy top that I had just bought and already had stained the front and added a heart and cut out the spaces between inch grids.  I just couldn't throw it away. Heard o...

We chose a trip to the hill country again.  Gary enjoys driving through the country and we wanted to check out a campground we had seen on the first trip.  We drove west and found a Dress Barn (my new favorite place to shop for clothes).  It changes according to their collections.  Next week it will be somewhere else.  I stopped at Hobby Lobby and found yarn for the new crocheted blanket. In Bandara, I saw these horns.  Now this is what every farmer/rancher should have on their equipment. These two pictures we taken in the city park across from the Pioneer Campground.  They both are located along the river.  Now here is a peach and a palm tree Ha!  It was on the corner of the McDonalds.  Someone had to have his fix of sweet tea.  This is the court house in Hondo, Texas.  It was a beautiful example of the old building built with their limestone. We haven't been doing much to write about. Sunday we went for breakfast and to buy groceries.  We stopped at Home Depot to get Gary's birthday gift of an air compressor with three guns.  We looked at single-wide modular homes.  Then to Wal-Mart we went. We did decide to buy a kitchen cart.  I was finding that I didn't have much counter space and it really seems to help.  It has a butcher top that I just rolled dough and made banana and coconut pies. It has a drop shelf on one end and a towel rack on the other.  I moved my baking pans into the storage area.  The storage under the stove was proving to be a black hole that things got lost.  So, the handyman built me a shelf with a basket that slides in and out so I can find things. I just "love" my new quilting frame.  Why didn't someone tell me about this sooner.  It weighs under 10 pounds and the clamps make the quilt really snug and easy to put on the frame.  (Don't look at the kitchen counter.)  This is the box that the black blanket was mailed.  Aren't we lucky we have room to sit this up and still have more room to move around.  Better get busy and tie some more strings,  Go Tigers!

You can tell how much we enjoy a trip by the number of pictures we take (50+).  First thing the hillibillies had to do was find a parking place and figure out how to pay for it.  We were only a few blocks from The Alamo.  The missions were impressive and the garden area around The Alamo was beautiful.  The Daughters of the Alamo are credited with its preservation.  We decided to take a tour of the city.  In the past this is the best way for us to find out what is available and the history behind things.  I took a lot of pictures of wonderful old buildings that had decor that the modern day civilization should try to copy. Space Needle that was created for the World's Fair  I believe there are five missions built along the San Antonio river.  Three were moved from other locations because of the raids upon them.
