Whee.....what a long three days.....we put a lot of miles on the vehicles and our bodies. When I last blogged we were at Dave's RV Park in Vanderhoof, BC. Gary said that this was one of the best kept campgrounds that we had visited. The bathrooms were spotless and the grounds and flowers matched. We aimed to go around 200 miles and stop.....somehow that didn't fall into place. We stopped for lunch at a rest area. I took this pictures overlooking the valley below from the camper door. You can see the screen door marks on the picture. All along this road, we passed original log houses and out buildings. It made you feel like you were travelling on the very path that the pioneers had taken. We finally found a campground in the canyon. Gary got out to take his movie pictures and asked me where we were and what was the name of the campground. Neither of us knew. We did have a good dinner. ...
We left the Grand View Campground around 9:37am. The temperature was 48. It was cloudy. Clouds were so low that you couldn't even tell we were in the mountains. We followed a lot of the Pipeline from Glennallen to Valdez. It was good to see something that I had only heard about until now. As we got closer to Valdez, we ran across this rest area with a memorial to Billy Mitchell. He was a soldier that was sent to Alaska to establish the telegraph....I think. This must have been his cabin, it was located in the park. Glacier is about to run right into the highway. I think was are going to drive up to see it closer. Welcome to Valdez! The city has a campground right by the welcoming sign. We chose to stay in one a few miles back in the country. I'm so excited! We have real cable TV with over 72 channels. Up until now, we were only allowed around 9 channels and they were so fuzzy you couldn...
I was so excited that today was the day we were to take our ferry ride to watch for wildlife. A NEW EXPERIENCE!! We got up at 7:00am which was way too early for senior citizens. Mrs. B packed up our snacks because she was worried we would get hungry. Our next door neighbor at the Kanei Princess RV Park is a well-know musher. Her sled is in front of her trailer and her dogs are kenneled behind it. She puts on a show with her dogs each night for the guests of the park and lodge. I will try to put pictures of the dogs on tomorrow. This is the prettiest park we have stayed. There are mountains surrounding the 37 sights and a few cabins. We reached Seward around 9:45am AT. We had 45 minutes to waste before boarding time. So, We sit in front of the Major Marine Tours. Mrs. B preceded to fall off the picnic table. Of course, everyone wanted to know what she had been drinking. Then I had to drag them...
