Monday and Tuesday--February 6 and 7, 2012--Nothing and Laundry

Image
Monday--We did a stay home day.  I worked on the quilt and read.  We walked a bit and Gary walked a bit more.  Basketball was close.....MU had better start playing like a #4 team. Tuesday--Got up, that was good!  Went for a little walk.  The sun was actually shining today. Seguin Country Laundry The laundry is about 1/2 mile south of the campground.  It only takes $1.00 to wash and $1.00 to dry.  They work pretty good.  It is kind of a "country" strip mall.  There is a gas station, a beauty salon, a custom metal cutting shop, and the laundry.  A feed store opened in the first building to the north.  The custom metal shop had some interesting pieces of metal.  Laura and Cassie would like this type of decor for their homes. Back home for more reading and quilting.  K-State played basketball.  We sure are lucky that we have a basketball game just about every night.

Sunday--February 5, 2012--Super Bowl Day

Image
We got up and went to breakfast at IHOP.  Yummy! Next my favorite things to do--grocery shopping at Wally World. We came home and drug the groceries in the camper in the rain.  It has been raining for days......at least it is not hot and humid. I thought the Super Bowl went quickly.  I always enjoy the commercials.  Also, the "America the Beautiful" by Blake Sheldon and Miranda was great.  So proud that we finally had a top-rate show during halftime.  Madonna did a good job and kept her clothes on while entertaining American and it's kids.  The game was good and close.  Just enjoyed the whole show for a change. As I was getting ready to close the window for the night, the sun started trying to come out. Sunset in Texas When I put Prissy out for the night the sky was full of bright stars.   Miss my family and friends; but we are doing fine down here,  Gary doesn't like the cold at all and prefers the hot and humid so he is...

Friday and Saturday--February 2 and 3--Texas Theater

Image
Friday, Febraury 3, we did not much at all.  I started a quilt.  Finished a book and warmed up leftovers for dinner. Saturday, February 4,I  had a really nice day.  We got up after it rained most of the night again.  Water was standing all around us.  Pond is about ready to go out the spillway.  Wet Texas!   I cooked the old man ham and eggs for breakfast and cut out some more quilt squares.  He started watching a movie and I had to get ready for the concert in between the commercials. Off to town we went.  We stood in line to get pretty good seats.  The old theater is being restored by the town members.  Nice comfy seats. The first entertainer was Justin Trevino.  He is one of my favorite Texas singers. Justin Trevino While Justin Trevino was singing "Devil Woman" he stopped in the middle and stated that he always stopped the band at this point because he did not understand the lyrics.  (Something about eve...

February 1, 2012--To the Hill Country We Go

Image
We left in the fog.  We drove to Selma to try to get a rebate back on my new computer.  No go!  (Thanks, Roberta, for trying in Weatherford.)  Then we took the upper bypass to Hwy 16 and drove through some interesting hills. Randolph Air Base (I think Uncle Ralph Wilkerson might have been stationed here.) Driver has pursed lips because I have done something wrong again? Texas Hill Country Over Hill and Through the Hills A Herd of Something? They are big as horses and have long, long horns! Don't think they are wild pigs.  Ha! Are you interrupting my meal? I'm going to tell MaMa you are bothering me! Pecan Trees along the Guadeloupe River This was some of the prettiest country we have seen. View of Lake in the Resort Area My Man!  Always ready to help someone in need! They had called the Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Their flat looked better than ours with a Pliers Handle sticking out of it. We were suppo...

January 30, 2012--Rain, Rain

Image
Horse and God-Made "Tank" (I learned this from Roberta--Texans call a pond a "tank".) Don't understand.....don't see any metal sides? It started raining in the afternoon and it rained and it rained.  There is rain in the forecast about everyday this week except Wednesday.  We plan to take a road trip tomorrow into the hill country and follow the scenic drive in our best drives in the US by Readers Digest.  Not much news.  I saw on Facebook that Onaga was experiencing 70 degree weather.  Guess we should have stayed at home.

Sunday--January 29, 2012--Breakfast at Seguin

Image
Because I was out of milk and didn't want to eat my cereal dry, we decided to run into town and have breakfast at IHOP.  I had the 2x2x2.....2 eggs, 2 bacon, and 2 pancakes.  I gave my bacon to Gary because it was a flavor I didn't care for and I had plenty to eat anyway. Horse Pasture in our back yard. Picture was taken from the back window of trailer.  After breakfast we went to Home Depot for Gary to drool over the air compressor and guns that he has added to his want list.  He thought we needed exercise so up one isle and down another we went. After he was wore out and had seen everything in the store, we drove down some different streets in Seguin.  We found the theater where some music will be Saturday night.  It would have been perfect if Amber Digsby was coming. Texas Theater.....we hope to attend Saturday night. Another Old Elevator Artwork above this building. They must have been caught or ran out of...

Jan 27 and 28, 2012

Friday--Didn't do a whole lot.  In the afternoon Gary wanted to go back north and try to pick up another pair of pliers for his tires....ha!  We drove around Granger Lake.  It was pretty dirty from all the rain that we received the past few days. Granger Lake  We stopped at TSC and he got two new shirts and a ramp for his "hog".  I think he wishes he had taken more time and hitched it to the trailer.  Men!  They just won't listen. Saturday--Forty years ago today we were headed to Jefferson City Missouri in the old 58 Ford because the new Mustang would not start.  The roads were icy and we had a baby boy that was ready to make his entrance into the world.  I know he sure filled a void in my life.  The gap from my mother's passing had not healed yet; but those little brown eyes sure helped. We packed up and left Taylor around 10:00am.  We drove south to Seguin to find a campground.  We had tried several and to our d...
